Synopsis
One goal of Discrete Mathematics with Applications is for readers to develop the mathematical maturity necessary for abstract thinking and problem solving. Epp addresses the issue with: 1) unique coverage of mathematical language. ie, the logic mathematical induction, and methods of proof necessary to understand and construct straightforward mathematical arguments, and 2) plenty of concrete examples and exercises to enable readers to develop the mental models needed to conceptualize, and solve, more abstract problems.
