The first two editions of Structural Analysis were distinguished by the clarity and quality of the explanations of the basic concepts supported by detailed step-by-step procedures for analysis and worked-out examples. The Third Edition builds on this foundation with 30% more (new) examples and about 40% new problems to increase the total number to over 600 problems. The coverage of loads on structures is updated to meet the latest ASCE Standards, and the treatment of the force method has been expanded by including the topic of Three-Moment Equation.

Consistently recognized for teaching excellence, Dr. Kassimali has received 19 awards for outstanding teaching at the department and the college level since joining Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1980. In 1996 he was named the Outstanding Teacher of the entire university, and in 2004 he was awarded the title of Distinguished Teacher. Kassimali has done a very good job with the illustrations. Inclusion of actual engineering structures to show what the mathematical models represent is excellent. - Professor George E. Blandford, University of Kentucky
