The text is written with a very readable, approachable style which rarely sacrifices precision or technical correctness. I appreciate a book which does not insist upon an overly pedantic style at the expense of directness and clarity. Reading the book should be a good backup to, and positive reinforcement of lectures. I love the phrase 'thinking first before pushing the pencil.
New to the third edition are the reorganization and revision of some of the chapters and the addition of a cumulative review problem set or practice test after each section and many word problems throughout.
