This text focuses on how research methods in social work provide indispensable assistance when practitioners are working with individuals, families, and groups in generalist social work settings. This edition makes the connection between between practice and research methods clearer through the presentation of examples, including international perspectives. It expands on the distinctions between positivistic and interpretist approaches to research and strikes a balance between the two methods. The book also provides insights about how research can be used to meet diverse human needs, while illustrating how social workers can be both producers and consumers of research.
