Editorial Reviews The possibilities for discussions with children on behavior are endless with this text on manners. While Ralph is rude to the narrator (whose name is not given), Tristan is polite. Teachers, librarians, and parents can share this story with children, and then open a discussion about Ralph's bad behavior, such as taking things without asking and interrupting others, and why such actions made the narrator want to not be around Ralph. On the other hand, Tristan shares, listens, and uses phrases such as "excuse me," "thank you," and "please." Because of this, the narrator likes Tristan more than he likes Ralph. When Ralph understands this, he successfully makes an effort to change his rude ways so that he will be liked as well. With easy-to-read text and colorful illustrations, this is a great book to read out loud. It includes a word list and is a level C (fluent reader) in the "Rookie Reader" series. 2004, Scholastic Inc, Ages 4 to 7.
