For those in transition
I spent the first 20 years of my marriage as the wife of a military man. We moved 13 times. Each time we had to start over and find a new hairdresser, babysitter, dentist, doctor--and church. As Christians, finding a church was our top priority, but it was also the most difficult. During one transition, when I was eight months pregnant and had two small children who clung to me each time I dropped them off at an unfamiliar Sunday School, I thought, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a book to narrow the choices." From this seed sprouted, "Finding the Right Church." I sent each headquarters a survey to fill out. After receiving their responses, excerpting information from doctrinal statements or the internet, or interviewing spokespersons, I sent a copy to each headquarters for review. Any changes, additions or deletions were entered into text before publication. Since I am not a theologian, I did not want to make any comparisons or judgments. That is why is each section is in the denomination's own words. My hope is that this book will be beneficial to anyone in transition, whether because of a move, going away to college, or attending church again after a long absence.
