Synopsis
Mariamna Davydoff, the Russian lady who wrote and illustrated this unique memoir, was born in 1871. It was after she emigrated from Russia to France in 1919 that she set down her detailed recollections and painted the accompanying watercolors. She did this mainly to enlighten one of her granddaughters about the family's life in the last decades of Tsarist Russia.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Davydoff, Mariamna (illustrator). 1st Edition. Dustwrapper, landscape 4to, pp.159. Illustrated and written with 82 colour illustrations by Mariamna Davydoff as a memoir for a granddaughter about life in Tsarist Russia. The selection of watercolours and writings used here are by a modern family member. Some light foxing and yellowing to spine seams and cover edges of wrapper but otherwise bright and sound. More moderate foxing on reverse of wrapper. Very slight foxing in prelims, text clean and bright. Near fine in VG wrapper. A heavy book weighing c1200g when suitably parcelled, thus exceeding the default weight of 1000g for the postage quotation, and invoking a request for the extra postage at cost at time of order ( or can be supplied on request ) if to be sent overseas or by UK 1st class post ( 2nd class Uk post not affected ).
