About the Author:
Carolynn A. Lindeman (B.M., Oberlin College, DMA, Stanford University) is Professor of Music Emerita at San Francisco State University and past president of MENC: The National Association for Music Education. Active as a speaker and clinician, she has given presentations throughout the United States and in Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, Mexico, Israel, and South Africa. Dr. Lindeman is the author of The Piano Advantage: A Concise Introduction for Beginners (Thomson/Schirmer, 2006), coauthor of The Musical Classroom: Backgrounds, Models, and Skills for Elementary Teaching, 7th ed. and the compiler of Women Composers of Ragtime (a piano folio). She has published more than fifty articles in professional journals and served as series editor for sixteen publications (MENC, 1995?2003) related to implementing and assessing the National Standards for Music Education.
