Excerpt from Another Wicked Woman
The furniture of the room consists of a bed with coarse covering, and mosquito nets tied with common red braid, two washstands, two chairs, and a toilet table made out of a box, covered with tawdry cheap muslin. The blind inside the window is broken down at one side, thus admitting a brilliant stream of moonlight into the room, where it struggles for the mastery with the flickering, uncertain light of a single candle.
