Synopsis

Howick Historical Village's mission is "to enlighten and stimulate awareness for a better understanding of our local heritage and culture by presenting village life in a Fencible Settlement during the period 1840 to 1880". The fencible (soldier-settlers) immigration was Auckland's largest organised immigration scheme. Howick Historical Village recreates fencible life of the 1850s with authentic buildings and costumed historical interpreters.
