The Israeli "security fence" (or "apartheid wall" in the formulation of critics) carving the West Bank into isolated cantonments and the de facto integration of the Israeli and Palestinian economies, among other "facts on the ground" have effectively killed off the possibility that the two-state solution long advocated as a solution to Israeli-Palestinian conflict can possibly lead to long term peace and security in the Middle East, argues Tilley (political science, Hobart and William Smith Colleges).
