Synopsis
A new edition to help new students adjust to life on a college campus. One of the biggest transitions in life - whether the student is new to the United States or not - is enrollment in a college or university. "Cultures in Contrast" was written with international students in mind, but all students can appreciate and learn from the case studies and activities designed to help students face the challenges of life at a U.S. college or university. The textbook focuses on the need for today's college students to have a sensitivity to and respect for diversity, as well as a heightened awareness of individual rights and responsibilities. "Cultures in Contrast" presents case studies, readings, and a variety of activities that require students to analyze and evaluate today's complex social and moral issues. The second edition updates the readings and units from the first edition, but also includes a new unit on binge drinking - one of the most troubling and growing issues facing U.S. campuses.
