As space-orientated activities increase, so the need for personnel other than scientific and technical staff increases. This study details a strategy for a space personnel deployment system, and examines the challenges of space settlement within an isolated, confined, extreme or exotic environment. A complete overview of the challenges created by space industrialization, including the commercial, legal and political ramifications, is included. Space habitation plans for both NASA and the European Space Agency are reviewed, along with the US Space Exploration Initiative and its implications.
