Synopsis
This book is an attempt to explain the fundamental concepts associated with data communications. It examines the hardware and the software features that enable members of the IBM PC series and compatibles to communicate in a variety of ways. It also explores various networking strategies associated with the integration of PC communications requirements into data communications networks. Written in a modular fashion so that chapters may be read in isolation or in sequence, the book includes a list of features to consider (with explanations) in hardware, software, and the selection of information utilities. It gives examples illustrating the operational use of software programs to use as a guide for selection.
