This book builds on the lifetime experience of Jan Mikusinski and provides students with a solid background for further studies in analysis. It aims to deepen their understanding of calculus, and provide sound training in rigorous mathematical proof. It includes new ideas in mathematical analysis on topics such as natural numbers. A wide range of problem material supports the light but careful exposition. A new approach to natural numbers is used which simplifies the construction of real numbers and develops the concepts of calculus more logically and systematically.
