Young is Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford, and founder of the Center for On-Line Addiction, which consults to educational institutions, mental health clinics, and corporations dealing with Internet misuse. Dr. Young is known internationally for her work in Internet addiction.
