Information Systems: A Business Approach is a new text aimed at students studying information systems for the first time.
This text focuses on the tactical and strategic uses of technology in business and not on the technology per se. In most cases, detailed technical knowledge is a burden to the Information Systems practitioner. It requires vast amounts of effort to keep up–to–date and tends to impose a rigid style of thinking which is entirely inappropriate for contemporary business.
This book develops a sound conceptual framework and as much technical coverage as is required to understand the nature of the application under discussion. The approach has been designed to enable students to develop long–lasting, widely applicable skills by placing more emphasis on transferable skills than on detailed technical knowledge.
