Newer applications of chromatographic methods are given prominence, and traditional applications reviewed in brief; newer applications include structure-retention-activity relationships, and analysis of fuel sources and of food flavours.
Affinity chromatography, often neglected in specialist texts, is elaborated as a general method with a high degree of specificity; also of value are chapters on quantitative analysis, trace analysis and automation. The emphasis throughout remains on the chemical principles underlying the separation phenomena.
