Thus, although the book is mathematically correct, mathematical rigour is de-emphasised: explanations are developed from a practical point of view. The book thus fills a gap in the literature where there is a lack of texts which take this approach to numerical methods. The concept is to help engineering students, practising engineers, and applied scientists, understand the physical process of the methods. There are hints on programming and a number of programs are also provided.
