In 1917 London, a series of murders are hauntingly similar to the vicious killings by Jack the Ripper in 1888. Is it a copycat killer? A dark, ghostly figure lurks on the streets of Whitechapel, where the Ripper's murders occurred, and prostitute is murdered in the Ripper slashing manner. Scotland Yard calls in Professor John Darnell, the world's first and only paranormal detective, to investigate the ghostly sightings, and he is soon drawn into the murder mystery. Other Ripper-type killings are committed in fashionable parts of London, and Darnell knows he must lay a trap to catch the elusive killer, and enlists George Bernard Shaw's help. This is the fourth in the John Darnell Mystery Series, set in the early 1900's, a period in which the public was intrigued by supposed supernatural events.
