About the Author

Jeffrey K. Aronson M.A. D. Phil., MB. FRCP, is currently Reader of Clinical Pharmacology at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford England. Dr. Aronson has been editor of the Side Effects of Drugs Annuals (an Elsevier book series) since 1991. In 2000, Dr. Aronson became co-Editor of Meylers 14th Edition with Professor M.N. G. Dukes. Meanwhile, he has also edited books in the past for Oxford University Press. Dr. Aronsons research interests are: methods of classifying, detecting, and reporting adverse drug reactions, including systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and the use of anecdotal reports; analysis of benefits and harms in drug therapy; applying Bayesian methods to the analysis of adverse drug reactions; errors in drug administration; marrying pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in studying the clinical effects of drugs and in monitoring drug therapy; structure-activity relations of local anaesthetics; simple and cheap methods of medical management of toxicological problems in Sri Lanka.
