In that college, Dr. Assad focused on renewable energy research such as wind turbines performance. His current research interests include geothermal energy, solar energy, irreversible thermodynamics, chemical thermodynamics and absorption chillers. Dr. Assad received the Teacher of the Year 2011 of Aalto University, Finland, and Sharjah Sustainability Award in 2020.
Mohammad Alhuyi Nazari has published more than 70 articles on energy systems and relevant subjects. He has been guest editors in some journals such as frontiers in energy research, sustainability and journal of photoenergy and editor of a book on solar collectors and systems.
Geothermal energy has emerged as an abundant, renewable clean energy source that can
sustainably meet the energy requirements of global citizens for years to come. However, students
and industry professionals lack comprehensive, current resources on geothermal energy
systems, recent advances, and applications. Geothermal Systems in the Energy Transition Era:
Applications, Benefits, Challenges and Future Outlook synthesizes fundamentals, advances,
and contemporary applications in one volume.
Discover the clean, sustainable potential of geothermal energy as the book explores its
sources and fundamentals, including heat exchanger basics and power generation. It also
delves into a wide range of applications such as geothermal power plants, heat pumps, heating
and cooling systems, thermodynamics of absorption chillers, hybrid energy systems, and
smart optimization techniques, highlighting both opportunities and challenges in advancing
geothermal technology.
This book sheds light on geothermal energy systems, along with their applications, performance
factors, as well as environmental and economic considerations. The importance of geothermal
energy to help meet earth’s growing energy demands while upholding sustainability will also
be highlighted in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Geothermal Systems in the Energy Transition Era provides readers a holistic understanding of
this evolving field and its far-reaching impact.
