Synopsis
In modern medicine, advanced imaging techniques have come to play an important role in diagnosis and treatment. But the growing complexity of radiology has made it increasingly difficult for the student to interpret diagnostic images. This text integrates the different imaging modalities in use today and discusses the common methods of imaging-guided surgical treatment. The first chapter discusses the methods of analysis of imaging studies. Chapters 2 through 6 discuss the methods used for imaging the body. The body of the text, Chapters 7 through 62, describes the clinical applications of the imaging methods, divided by anatomical region. In closing, Chapter 63 discusses medical economics and the impact of imaging on the cost of health care. Each chapter comprises several parts: key concepts and objectives, which give an overview of the chapter; keynotes, comments within the text which emphasize important points; review questions; a vocabulary list; and the text itself.
