Synopsis
An introduction for nurses and other health care professionals to the study of the normal human behaviour in relation to health. The section of the psychology of self has been expanded, and new sections added on learning theory, memory and aggression. Case studies demonstrate how to apply theory in practice and exercises encourage the reader to examine his/her own attitudes/beliefs/prejudices. The text also emphasizes the psychology of illness prevention and health promotion. The book is suitable for student nurses, particularly in the "Social and Behavioural Sciences" section of the Project 2000 Common Foundation Programme (first 18 months of study). It should also be useful to post-registration nurses (qualified), particularly within the "Mental Health" branch, or studying at diploma or degree level.
