Synopsis

As part of a series which provides an international exchange of ideas and explores different approaches in professional therapy practice, this text is designed primarily for experienced clinicians and gives a commentary on the current state of the art in sports injuries. Articles written by specialists from a number of countries form the core of each volume in the series and each book covers an area which the editors believe to be of universal interest. Some are concerned with a troublesome symptom; others are related to problems within a broad diagnostic category, as with this text. The editor of this volume served as a British team physiotherapist at the World Student Games 1977, the Commonwealth Games 1978 and the Winter and Summer Olympics 1980. She also set up the first full-time sports injuries unit in a national sports centre at Crystal Palace, London.
