Synopsis
The Third Edition of 'Elementary German' represents a thorough revision of the previous edition. We have have reviewed and revised the basic presentation, replaced many of the lesson texts, and brought the whole up to date. Most of the exercises are either new or thoroughly revised. We have prepared a separate 'Workbook/Laboratory Manual', and a new tape program will also be available. The original authors invited two younger colleagues to participate in this revision. Sigrid Bauschinger and Albert M. Reh brought to their task varied teaching experience and a fresh outlook. Their energy, intelligence, and enthusiasm contributed much to this new edition, which is a preliminary form that was tested for one year at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
