IDBH is a guide to starting and managing a successful firm
What does it take to be an interior designer? Aptitude, education, stubbornness, and a working knowledge of general business practices all help. For many designers, business practices are somewhat of a mystery because they are rarely explained in language that has meaning to designers. Mary Knackstedt's more than 30 years of interior design practice helped her streamline business practices to the needs of the interior design industry. This book covers the broad range of a designer's business world, from the potential clients and sources to attorneys, insurance agents and more. There are sample forms and contracts, clear insturctions for a variety of ways to price design jobs, and a guide to how to set up a design office. The strategies in this book can enable a designer to pinpoint the areas of her or his business that need attention. There are procedures to remedy most business problems. This is a refernce you'll want to keep on your desk. A comprehensive index allows you to look up specific areas of interest.
