Synopsis
Fourteen-year-old Rusty-James runs one of the meanest gangs in his neighbourhood, his reputation safe mainly because his brother is the widely-feared Motorcycle Boy. But while his brother is now a loner who shuns gangs and fighting, Rusty-James is desperate to belong.

In the violent ganglands of urban America, Rusty-James at 14 has one burning ambition: to be like his fearless brother the Motorcycle Boy. But the Motorcycle Boy is through with gangs: ‘It wasn’t anything like you think it was. But Rusty-James has to defend his own reputation for toughness and his blind desire leads in the end to an explosive and tragic climax.
About the Author
S. E. Hinton wrote her first novel, "The Outsiders," when she was 16. She was the recipient of the ALA's first Margaret A. Edwards Award, which honors authors "whose books have provided young adults with a window through which they can view their world and which will help them to grow and to understand themselves and their role in society." The author lives in Tulsa, OK.
