1973. No edition remarks. 195 pages. Dust jacket over grey cloth. Black and white illustrations throughout. Clean pages with mild tanning and foxing throughout. Tightly bound with faint thumb-marking throughout. Pencil inscription to front endpaper. Boards have light edgewear with corner crushing. Notable tanning to board edges and spine, which has mild crushing to ends. Clipped jacket has moderate edgewear with chips, tears, and creasing. Mild foxing and droplet marks to surfaces. Heavy tanning to spine and to panel edges. Light rubbing and marking all over.

About the Author
James Reeves (1909-78) was a poet, educationalist and folklorist. He read English at Cambridge University, where he co-founded the influential literary magazine Experiment with Jacob Bronowski. After university, he forged a successful career in teaching, but failing eyesight forced him to retire in 1952, whereupon he became a full-time writer and editor. His other publications include Collected Poems, 1929-1974, Complete Poems for Children (1973), and, with Martin Seymour-Smith, Inside Poetry (1970).

Illustrated by Edward Ardizzone. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, a little patchy loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), few tears, scratch/scrape to back, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, the odd small mark, little pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small crease/rub to edges, browning to reverse (white side) and is in only fair condition. Boards are very good (having been well protected by the jacket) with minor pushing/bumping to corners, one scratch to back and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Previous owner's name in pen to front end-paper. Pages bit tanned. Top of pages have the odd small mark/minor foxing.
