Synopsis

Excerpt from Genetic Psychology: An Introduction to an Objective and Genetic View of Intelligence

The theory of evolution has completely revolutionized the biological sciences and is now making similar changes in psychology, the science dealing with the highest form of life, that of consciousness. All life phenomena, from those of plant growth to the most complex processes of consciousness, are in certain respects similar. Therefore, not until the facts and theories of all sciences concerned with life phenomena have been studied to determine their common and their differentiating characteristics, can we have a psychology that is a fitting apex of these sciences. In other words, all psychology must be founded on genetic principles and become genetic in character.

It is with the purpose of helping to more clearly define and establish this point of view, which is being more and more taken by present-day students of life activities, that this book has been prepared. It is hoped that this tentative formulation of the truths supplied by various sciences may help to promote more harmony of effort on the part of workers in the several related fields.
