It is perforce assumed, if the reader is used for direct method teaching, that the instructor will be familiar with such general and specific usages as are set forth in our Beginners' Latin,' for example. There is so much, however, which is peculiar to this book that it has seemed best to print in a special Introduction the features to which the author would like to call atten tion.
