Excerpt from Sketch of Alexander Alexander: Who Emigrated From County Down, Ireland, in the Year 1770, and Se Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; Together With a Genealogical Chart and Rec of His Descendants
Among the numerous descendants are to be found those occupying prominent places in all the different professions. While the great majority are engaged in that independent and honorable calling, the tilling of the soil. The biographies of all the descendants are purposely omitted, as being beyond the wow of this work, although pages could be written of many of them; no partiality has been shown, all have been treated alike. All titles of office and honor have also been omitted, as it is enough to know that we have all descended from a good and honorable ancestry which should incite us and our posterity to act worthy of such a parentage.
