Le sculpteur Victor Rousseau est né à Feluy, le 16 décembre 1865.
Feluy est situé dans la province de Hainaut, aux confins du Brabant: Il faisait autrefois partie du Comté de Hainaut, de la châtellenie de Braine-le - Comte, du diocèse de Cambrai, du décanat de Mons et avait pour. Collateur l'abbé de Bonne Espérance, puissante abbaye qui rivalisait avec celles d' Aulne et de Lobbes. C' est un très vieux village. Il figure dans un acte de donation faite par Sainte Aldegonde au chapitre de Maubeuge en 673. On y a trouvé des objets de l'âge du fer, des fibules en bronze, des meules, des grains de colliers des boucles et des monnaies des Antonins. Il a plante sur un bloc de granit son église dédiée à Sainte Alde gonde, que l'on reconst'ruisit en 1722, et son château aujourd'hui en ruines, dont le donjon, avec ses meur trières et sa couronne de machicoulis, a si fière allure.
