An hommage to Heinlein, now 25 years old!
I wrote this, the second of my novels, in deliberate tribute to Robert Heinlein. It's structured as a "prequel" to his FARMER IN THE SKY and attempts the voice of his young adult novels. I followed it with a more mature approach in AGAINST INFINITY (soon to be reissued also), in which the boy of JUPITER PROJECT is the old man. And someday I may finish the larger novel which forms the capstone of the "trilogy". But the most fun I had out of it all was getting a five page letter from Heinlein himself immediately after the novel appeared, full of comradeship and good advice. That started a friendship of 20 years, and a high point in my life. So...though I hope people still like the approach of the novel, you can't possibly enjoy it as much as I did, for what it brought me!
