Synopsis
Understanding JCT Standard Building Contracts is a readily accessible guide to the three major forms of contract in the JCT series: the standard Form of Building Contract with Quantities 1980 (JCT 1980), the Intermediate Form of Building Contract 1984 (IFC 84), and the Agreement for Minor Building Works 1980 (MW 80). This new edition has been thoroughly revised, bringing in the newest amendments to the Standard Form of Building Contract which also affect the two other contracts. The author avoids legal jargon and has arranged the guide by topic to provide a practical reference tool for architects, quantity surveyors and contractors, and for students of those professions.

David Chappel, BA(Hons Arch), MA(Arch), MA(Law), Ph.D, RIBA, is a Director of Chappel-Marshall Limited, Building and Civil Engineering Contract Consultants and Professor of Architectural Practice and Research in the School of the Built Environment at The Queen's University of Belfast.
