Synopsis

Miles offers an overview of the recent debates about the nature of racism and shows how it can be used to understand central political processes within Western capitalism. His is a decidedly left of centre analysis. His emphasis is on the importance of migration as both ongoing and fundamental to racism today.

Robert Miles is the Director of Study Abroad and Professor of Sociology and International Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Malcolm Brown is Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Exeter.
