Synopsis
An old man, a young woman, a gambler and a soldier set off from an undefined, quasi-European city on a pilgrimage into the desert. The aim of their quest is obscure, their journey is mapped out as a changing sequence of scenes, perspectives and dislocated monologues.

Peter Handke was born in Griffen, Austria, in 1942. He is the author of books, plays and screenplays, including the novel Crossing the Sierra de Gredos (FSG, 2007) and the nonfiction work Don Juan - His Own Version (FSG, 2010).
