It deals with the role of genetic predisposition to both the rarer cancer syndromes, and the more recent discoveries in the common cancers. The techniques used to search for cancer-predisposing genes, genetic linkage and gene cloning, are described in detail, assuming only a very basic knowledge of genetics.
