Synopsis

This single-volume supplement contains approximately 3,000 new and updated entries extending the coverage of the Dictionary. These are comprised of new entries based on the current literature from mid 1988 to mid 1989, updated entries containing significant new information which has appeared in the literature in that period and entries for known compounds based on further literature research by the DOC editors. Only those compounds of significance are entered in the Dictionary. The aim of the supplements is to keep the reader up-to-date with recent developments. The current DOC set thus contains approximately 66,000 entries holding data on 145,600 compounds. The Eighth supplement has computer-generated Name and Molecular Formula Indexes covering supplements six, seven and eight. The indexing system ensures that, even after many supplements have been issued, users can locate information by consulting a maximum of three index volumes.
