This work comprises nine papers invited from authors connected with frame analysis, the design of steel connections, lightweight steel construction, composite constuction and plastic design of reinforced concrete slabs. It is dedicated to one of the contributors, Dr.R.H.Wood, who worked within the British Civil Service and became Deputy Chief Scientific Officer. He was an early advocate of numerical methods and the use of the theory of plasticity in structural analysis.
