Review

"Strengths of Moores' text [include] breadth of coverage--history, etiology, multiple disabilities, family adjustment, cognitive functioning and mental health, communication, and a description of the range of educational programs by age and program type....Excellent information on the development of vocational training and postsecondary programs."

"Strengths [include] credibility - written by one of the most respected leaders in the field. Each new edition has reflected the changes in education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing."

"Moore's primary strength is his clear, easy-to-follow writing style. He has not written a text for fellow researchers. He has written a text that can be comprehended by college students who may have only a limited experience in research."

"[This book] covers a wide range of issues that are needed for a survey intro course....These students don't have any prior knowledge of deaf and hard of hearing people and this text introduces a variety of concerns and explains terms well."
