Howard Fast was well known for a literary career that spanned more than sixty years. He was the author of over seventy novels, including Spartacus, April Morning, Citizen Tom Paine, Moses, The Immigrants, and Freedom Road, which has been published in eighty-two languages. Among his most recent projects were the novels Redemption and An Independent Woman, and the screenplay for The Crossing, a television movie for the A&E Television Network. Fast died in April.
