Synopsis
This chronicle demonstrates Askin's legal challenges to the surveillance practices of the US army, the CIA and the FBI. It is about law, lawyers, politics and how individuals influence the establishment of public policy. As an active participant in battles for political and civil rights, this book covers Askin's struggles in various important roles throughout his life. It shows his struggle for affirmative action during the 1967 Newark riots and as a volunteer lawyer and general counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, his defence of the ACLU's aggressive campaign against unreasonable regulations of individuals' thoughts and deeds.
