Synopsis
Introducing the concepts and features of Linux (the public domain UNIX system for PCs), this study explains how to install and configure the system. It describes the features and services of the Internet which have been instrumental in the rapid development and wide distribution of Linux and focuses on the Linux graphical interface, its network capability and its extended tools. It also gives a helpful overview of the range of shareware applications available for Linux. This edition allows the reader to take advantage of the range of shareware applications, utilities, and high-performance of Linux. Highlights of the edition include a: new chapter on Emacs configuration and use; new command reference section which describes the most commonly used Linux commands; and an explanation of Linux as a server of MS-Windows.
