From the Author

Thanks to all those who have written to me about the book.
This is a good place to express my gratitude for the many letters and comments I've received since the book was published. While most came from those who had a parent or favorite uncle who climbed up in the wild blue yonder in WWII, a surprising number were from college kids and others who I guess had just seen Saving Private Ryan. Anyway, I'm grateful to all for the mini- and maxi-reviews, the probing insights, the one liners, the wonderful questions, and I promise to reply to any and all further messages via E-mail sampert@aol.com
