Ce petit ouvrage succédant à celui que je viens de pu blier sur la Cinématique, est le second de la série de Traités où je m'occupe de réunir et de coordonner toutes les par ties des cours de Mécanique que j'ai successivement pro fessés depuis 1858, à l'ecole centrale des Arts et Manu factures, à l'ecole des Ponts et Chaussées et à l'ecole Ÿolytechnique et qui n'ont reçu qu'une publicité incom plète par les autographies de résumés destinés aux seuls élèves de ces Ecoles.
