Haec est, ut Gaius ait (i), summa de jure personarum divisio, quod omnes homines aut liberi sunt, aut servi. Rursus liberorum hominum alii cives sunt, alii peregrini. Saapius quidem de peregrinis apud Terentium agitur quam ut eos silentio praetermittere liceat; sed quum, non nisi circa matrimonium, civitatem aut peregrinitatem commemoret, eum secuti, quando de justis nuptiis, tum et de peregrinis dicemus.
