Ciascuna legge provvede a determinare tali condizioni e a fissare in particolare quali di esse debbano reputarsi essenziali all'esistenza giuridica del matrimonio; quali necessarie alla sua validitą; e quali richieste soltaqto per la sua regolare celebrazione. Ciascuna legge determina inoltre le conseguenze giuridiche, che possono derivare dalla mancanza dell'una o dell'altra delle condizioni da essa richieste, sancendo norme sicure per decidere se il matrimonio debba reputarsi inesistente, o nullo, o soltanto annullabile sotto certe determinate con dizioni, o se la irregolaritą, producendo pure certe conseguenze, non possa in alcun modo influire sulla validitą dell'alto.
