Population data are presented herewith in tabular form for each of the seven cities under investigation and for the counties of Forsyth, Davidson, Guilford, and Alamance.

Past population figures are taken from the census records for each decade. Population in 1956 is estimated for each of the cities based either on local census records and estimates, or on an estimated growth at approximately the same rate as past growth. Estimated future populations have been based on annual per centage increases following in general the rate of past growth of the communities.
