At present work is progressing under the guidance of E. Isaacson and G. K. Morikawa, and others, aiming at a feasible numerical method of solving the geostrophic conservation equa tion. It is believed that solutions of this equation may con tribute to the understanding of the problem of meteorological forecasting, especially when applied to the problem of predicting the path of large disturbances such as hurricanes.
